Geofence Alerts: Configuration & Recommended Settings
Discover how to configure geofence alerts and the recommended settings to enhance location tracking and GPS accuracy for trip milestones.

Overview
Geofence Alerts help drivers avoid missing pickup and drop-off milestones in the Driver App. When enabled, the Driver App displays a visual notification. It plays an audio alert when a driver has arrived at either the pickup or drop-off location but has not yet marked the milestone.
This feature helps improve trip accuracy and can reduce compliance issues caused by missed status updates or GPS inconsistencies.
Customers servicing MAS trips are especially encouraged to enable Geofence Alerts. MAS uses GPS-based proximity checks and automatic trip progression to maintain trip continuity, so accurate geofence configuration directly affects MAS compliance.

Configuration Options & Recommended Settings
| Setting | What It Does | Recommended Value | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geofence Alert | Turns geofence alerts on or off in the Driver App. | Enabled | Enables visual and audio reminders in the Driver App to help drivers remember to mark pickups and drop-offs. |
| Location Distance | Defines the radius around a stop where the system considers the driver to have arrived. Measured in meters. | 402m (¼ mile) | Geofence radius below 400 meters have shown inconsistent GPS proximity detection and an increased rate of missed or delayed status updates. |
| Vehicle Stop Time at Pickup | Defines how long the vehicle must remain stopped at a pickup location before an alert is triggered. Measured in minutes. | 1–5 Minutes | Shorter stop times notify drivers promptly when they have reached the location but have not marked the arrival, reducing the likelihood of missed milestones. |
| Vehicle Stop Time at Drop-Off | Defines how long the vehicle must remain stopped at a drop-off location before an alert is triggered. Measured in minutes. | 1–5 Minutes | Shorter stop times notify drivers promptly when they have reached the location but have not marked the arrival, reducing the likelihood of missed milestones. |
| Alert Duration | Determines how long each visual and audio alert remains active in the Driver App. Defined in MM:SS format. | 1 Minute | Keeping alerts active for 1 minute provides drivers with sufficient time to notice and respond to the reminder. |
| Alert Time Interval | Determines the amount of time between repeated alerts. Defined in MM:SS format. | 1–5 Minutes | Repeating alerts every 1–5 minutes after the previous alert provides timely reminders while the driver remains at the stop. |
| Repeat Alert Count | Specifies how many times the alert should repeat. | 5 | Provides multiple reminders to give drivers several opportunities to acknowledge the alert before continuing their route. Our data shows that drivers need 4-5 alerts before updating the status. |
| Enable Auto-Mark Status | Reserved for a future enhancement. This setting is currently not functional. | Leave Disabled | This feature is reserved for a future enhancement and is not currently functional. |
