What Cannot Be Changed What Can Be Adjusted Best Practice: Preventing Future Errors

When a driver accidentally taps the wrong status (e.g., arrives, onboard, or offboard) at the wrong time, it’s important to understand what can and cannot be corrected for MAS trips.

What Cannot Be Changed

MAS has strict requirements around trip tracking data:

  • Breadcrumbs (GPS + timestamps) must be submitted within 30 minutes of when they are recorded
  • GPS coordinates and timestamps cannot be edited under any circumstances
  • New breadcrumbs cannot be created after the fact
  • Once data is submitted to MAS, no changes can be made
  • There are no exceptions to these rules (including next-day corrections)

This means that if a driver misses a tap or records something incorrectly, the underlying GPS/timestamp data cannot be fixed retroactively.

What Can Be Adjusted

Before the trip data is submitted to MAS:

  • Milestones (Arrived at Pick Up, Onboarded Passenger, Arrived at Drop-off, and Off boarded Passenger) can be corrected
  • These updates must be made before submission and within the allowed timeframe

Best Practice: Preventing Future Errors

MAS does not allow edits to GPS or timestamp data after it’s recorded or submitted—so the best approach is to correct issues immediately when possible and focus on preventing errors going forward. The following preventative measures should be used:

  • Enable geofencing to trigger location-based actions
  • Reinforce driver training on proper milestone usage
