Recommended Geofence Alert Settings for MAS Customers
Customers servicing MAS trips are encouraged to enable Geofence Alerts in Tobi to help drivers accurately record pickups and drop-offs, reducing compliance issues caused by missed status updates.
MAS uses GPS-based proximity checks and automatic trip progression to maintain trip continuity. Based on the guidance provided by MAS, Tobi recommends configuring Geofence Alerts using the settings below.
Recommended Configuration
Navigate to: Configurations → System Settings → Geofence Alerts
| Setting | Recommended Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Geofence Alert | Enabled | Enables visual and audio reminders in the Driver App to help drivers remember to mark pickups and drop-offs. |
| Location Distance | 402 meters (MAS recommended) | MAS guidance uses a quarter-mile radius (approximately 402 meters) for pickup and drop-off proximity. |
| Vehicle Stop Time at Pickup | 1-5 Minutes | Shorter stop times will notify drivers promptly when the driver reaches the specified location, but has not marked the arrival. This helps reduce the likelihood of missed milestones. |
| Vehicle Stop Time at Drop-Off | 1-5 Minutes | Shorter stop times will notify drivers promptly when the driver reaches the specified location, but has not marked the arrival. This helps reduce the likelihood of missed milestones. |
| Alert Duration | 1 Minute | Keeping alerts active for 1 Minute provides drivers with sufficient time to notice and respond to the reminder. |
| Alert Time Interval | 1-5 Minute | Repeating alerts every 1-5 Minutes after the previous alert to provide timely reminders while the driver remains at the stop. |
| Repeat Alert Count | 3 | Provides multiple reminders to give drivers several opportunities to acknowledge the alert before continuing their route. |
| Enable Auto-Mark Status | Leave Disabled | Once this feature is active, drivers will have milestones automatically marked for them once they dwell inside the defined radius for the set stop time. |
Why Are These Settings Recommended?
According to MAS guidance:
- Pickup and drop-off locations are evaluated using a quarter-mile radius.
- Drivers are expected to record trip milestones while they are at the stop.
- Automatic trip progression may occur when milestones are not recorded within the expected time frame.
- Enabling Geofence Alerts in Tobi can help drivers receive timely reminders and reduce the likelihood of missed statuses that could lead to compliance concerns.
Important
- These settings are recommendations based on information provided by MAS and are intended to help align driver workflows with MAS expectations.
- Customers should continue to follow any official guidance or requirements provided directly by MAS, as those requirements may change over time.
- Drivers should continue to manually mark pickups and drop-offs whenever possible. Geofence Alerts are intended to provide additional reminders and support accurate trip reporting.
